Darwin Street Art Festival 2025: 25 Striking New Murals Transform the Cityscape

The 2025 Darwin Street Art Festival is officially underway, bringing bold colors and creative expression back to the streets of Australia’s Top End. Running from May 24 to June 15, this year’s edition marks the festival’s ninth anniversary, with an exciting expansion: 25 new murals will be painted across Darwin, further cementing its unique status as the only Australian city with murals on every major street.

This annual event has become a major cultural attraction, drawing both local and international attention. The Darwin Street Art Festival 2025 is not just an art exhibition — it’s a city-wide celebration of public creativity and community engagement. Each year, the event transforms urban spaces into open-air galleries, bringing together emerging and established street artists to collaborate, innovate, and revitalize public spaces.

Kicking off this year’s festival is local street artist Caleb Dude, whose dynamic mural on Reichart Road in Winnellie sets the tone for the festival. Known for his vivid color palette and signature squiggle grid technique, Caleb’s work is a striking fusion of abstract energy and urban storytelling. His contribution exemplifies the festival’s commitment to showcasing original techniques and diverse artistic voices.

Guided mural tours, artist talks, and community workshops are also part of the Darwin Street Art Festival program, offering a chance to connect with the artists and understand the stories behind their works.

With increasing national recognition and media coverage, the Darwin Street Art Festival continues to elevate the city’s creative identity and attract art lovers, photographers, and travelers to the Northern Territory. As public art plays a growing role in urban development and cultural tourism, Darwin’s approach sets a compelling model for other cities.
