Are you ready to showcase your photography on one of the world’s largest stages? Organized annually by the World Photography Organisation, the Sony World Photography Awards are officially accepting free submissions for their upcoming cycle.

Whether you are an established professional, a passionate hobbyist, or a young student just starting out, this massive global open call has a dedicated category tailored to your experience level.

Competition Categories & Deadlines

The awards are split into four distinct competitions. Please pay close attention to the specific deadlines and requirements for your chosen category:

  • Student Competition (Deadline: 27 November 2026): Open exclusively to photography students attending selected universities partnered with the World Photography Organisation. Students must submit 5 to 10 images responding to a specific brief.
  • Single Image Competition (Deadline: 5 January 2027): Open to absolutely everyone! Participants can submit up to three (3) images for free across 10 thematic categories. Note: All submitted photographs must have been taken in the year 2026.
  • Youth Competition (Deadline: 5 January 2027): Dedicated to young and emerging photographers aged 19 and under. Participants can submit up to three (3) single images taken in 2026.
  • Series Competition (Deadline: 12 January 2027): Open to all entrants over the age of 18. Photographers are required to submit a cohesive series of 5 to 10 images per chosen category.

Prizes and Awards

With zero entry fees, the Sony World Photography Awards offer unparalleled international exposure, prestigious titles, and life-changing prizes:

  • Series Competition: The “Photographer of the Year” will win $25,000 USD and top-tier Sony digital imaging equipment. Category winners also receive Sony equipment.
  • Single Image Competition: The “Overall Winner” receives $5,000 USD and Sony digital imaging equipment. Category winners also receive Sony equipment.
  • Youth & Student Competitions: Overall winners in these categories will receive a suite of Sony digital imaging equipment to jumpstart their creative careers.
