This unique open call celebrates the power of photography to communicate complex scientific ideas, inviting participants to capture visually striking, fascinating scientific phenomena from around the universe.
Categories & Submission Guidelines
To be considered, every submitted photograph must be accompanied by a minimum 150-word description explaining the specific scientific phenomenon depicted. Participants may submit their photos into one of the following five categories:
- Astronomy: Exploring the cosmos and celestial events.
- Behaviour: Documenting the actions and interactions of living organisms.
- Earth Science and Climatology: Highlighting geological formations, weather patterns, and climate impacts.
- Ecology and Environmental Science: Showcasing ecosystems, biodiversity, and environmental relationships.
- Micro-imaging: Revealing the unseen world through microscopes and advanced imaging technology.
Prizes and Awards
With no entry fee required, this competition offers significant prestige, cash prizes, and an incredible publication opportunity:
- Overall Winner: £1,000 GBP and the photograph will be featured on the cover of a Royal Society journal.
- Category Winners (5 total): £500 GBP each.
